Considerations for Aisle Arrangements
The most sustainable materials are the ones you already have! There is no need to buy anything new to create a lush aisle arrangement. What is most important is considering factors such as weather, landscape, and flower types.
Will the arrangement be on a flat surface?
Is this area windy?
Do I need a deep reservoir of water for sensitive stems?
Will these arrangements be moving to another location?
Casket Saddle
This example is perfect for a design that needs stability above all else. Casket saddle arrangements will withstand most strong winds and can be easily moved from one area to the next. One brick of Agrawool has been wrapped in chicken wire for extra stability and attached to the saddle with wire.
Agrawool holds quite a bit of water and will keep flowers hydrated, especially if water is added regularly once the design is created to keep it fresh. Delicate stems might fare better in this design if added at the last minute or in separate water tubes.
A lush base of foliage and textural blooms will easily cover the casket saddle in a large-aisle arrangement design!
Heavy Ceramic Vase
Need something to keep stems a bit more hydrated? A ceramic vase with high sides does the trick. The weight of the vase and its broad base keeps the arrangement stable even in a windy situation. The high sides allow for a deep reservoir of water to hydrate all stem types.
You can see that this option allows for just the use of water (an extra high bundle of chicken wire will give even more stem stability). Or, you can take the opportunity to reuse old Agrawool you have lying around. You can tear or cut the wool into smaller pieces and cover them with chicken wire. This addition of Agrawool will help alleviate any water sloshing that may occur during transport.
Because of the excellent hydration, this option allows for the design to be created well in advance of the event.

Plastic Drawer Organizer
A plastic drawer organizer is an excellent choice if you are looking for a deep reservoir and a low-profile container. This clear container could go from the aisle to a tabletop, mantle, or dessert display seamlessly.
Agrawool and chicken wire provide firm stability with a deep reservoir to keep stems hydrated all day. This reservoir also allows the design to be created well in advance of the event.
By itself, this container is broad enough to create a stable design that can withstand modest amounts of wind. To bolster this design, simply strap it to a broader base. Pictured above is a random piece of wood, but you could use a brick paver, a large format tile leftover from a house project... Get creative with it! Add a little moss to cover the extra mechanics, and you are ready to create a lush design.
