We usually see these annual favorites from May to September

They are available in an array of colors — pink, magenta, burgundy, yellow, light orange, lavender, bronze, white, salmon, and more!

Snapdragons also have a lovely fragrance...just another perk of buying locally-grown flowers!

Snapdragons are named for their tubular petals, which resemble a dragon's mouth opening and closing when squeezed. We classify them into three categories based on their petal shape: classic, chantilly, and butterfly!

This means that the stems are affected by gravity. If you've ever seen a snapdragon with a bend in the top, you've observed geotropism. Gladiolus are susceptible to this as well. The bending can occur even after the stems are harvested. If the stems are stored leaning to the side in a bucket, they will naturally try to turn themselves upright, causing a bend at the tip. After a few hours, the stems will harden, and the bend will be fixed in place.

In researching geotropism, we discovered that this is artificially manipulated in some plants, like "lucky bamboo," by regularly rotating the plants on their sides to achieve a spiral effect.

The more you know!
